Corporate Social Responsibility Statement 2010

The Brickhouse and its Directors and staff take their Corporate Social Responsibilities very seriously and to this end have agreed a plan to:
(a) Reduce the carbon footprint of The Brickhouse; and
(b) Play an active role within the local community
This statement sets out the 10 main aims and objectives of The Brickhouse for 2010.
- The chosen charity of The Brickhouse is MENCAP and The Brickhouse will be actively supporting this charity throughout 2010. An optional charge of 50p will be added to the bill for each customer in 2010 to raise funds for the charity and other events will take place.
- The Brickhouse will use locally sourced produce wherever possible.
- The Brickhouse will use seasonal produce in its menus, wherever possible.
- The Brickhouse aims to reduce its energy consumption by 15% during 2010. This will be achieved through the using of more energy efficient lighting, careful control of the heating systems and reduction in usage of ancillary electrical appliances.
- The Brickhouse encourages the use of cycles as a means of transport and provides cycle storage space for staff. The aim is for 20% of staff to come to work by cycle.
- Other supported means of travel are buses, tubes and trains and The Brickhouse provides no free parking for staff cars.
- The Brickhouse will employ its staff for the local area wherever possible.
- The Brickhouse is working towards a paperless working environment and is already communicating by email as much as possible and using electronic banking to reduce post and paper.
- The Brickhouse will actively recycle, particularly in the glass, paper and plastic areas.
- The Brickhouse will actively seek to work with other organisations who have given consideration to their own social responsibilities.
