EAT YOUR HEART OUT
Friday 26 Mar 10
The Brickhouse is pleased to welcome one of the most forward thinking cabaret productions in the country 'Eat Your Heart Out'.
2010's optimism was quickly beaten out of us when the Conservative führer visually raped us with his corporate bill boards, communicating his policy to 'the street'. By the end of the Summer we could be looking up to David Cameron for financial support and bracing ourselves for the return of the Yuppie!
Tonight our performers get all punk and spit in the face of politics, we're aware you're not supposed to discuss such things around the dinner table but if you don't like it - you know where to go. Beware of the iron lady in aluminum.
'FORWARD THINKING CABARET' TIMEOUT CRITICS CHOICE
Directed by Scottee Scottee, The Return of the Yuppy will headline a score of amazing acts as they react to the prospect of a Tory Government stepping back into power this year. Promising to spit in the face of politics and bitch-slap the senses, the night will feature live performances from big names like Masumi Tipsy, Nando Messias and 100 Margaret Thatchers.
Guests can also expect free milk, an on-stage ballot and the launch of a twitter campaign aimed at keeping the Blue brigade at bay.
About Eat Your Heart Out
Scottee’s brash, clumsy and obnoxious approach to performance has left audiences confused, annoyed and amused. Whatever you think of Scottee - he probably won't care.
He’s performed at the Tate Britain; Tate Modern; ICA; and Roundhouse and collaborated with some of the world’s most influential practitioners including: Station House Opera, Augusto Boal, Lee Benjamin, Kate Moross, Warboy and Emm.
Eat Your Heart Out was launched in 2008 and has been making a mess since 2008. Each event celebrates experimental work from the UK's most pioneering performers and film makers (don’t worry you won’t have to sit through a fatty bleeding over your Primark heels – it’s post-90's).
It is performance art with an alcohol problem, for those on the verge of a breakdown. Don't come if you’re easily offended.
